##Down-on-their-luck Chuck
- Vital Stats:
- Age: 19
- Job: Since he lost his job as a line cook due to Covid-19, he is currently unemployed between temporary jobs.
- Chuck is single and lives in a large apartment complex with his roommate. Neither he nor his roommate are financially stable, so their apartment is sparsely furnished.
- Income level: Income is currently unreliable, and Chuck is in debt after buying and fixing his car.
- Transport: Chuck owns a small, older car that often needs repairs. When he’s unable to drive, he walks and uses the Saskatoon Transit System if walking is not an option.
- Goals/needs: Chuck wants to save as much money as possible so he can pay off his debts sooner. He’d also like to furnish his apartment and get nicer clothes to wear during job interviews. He isn’t interested in reuse/recycling unless he can financially benefit or get free/inexpensive items through reuse programs.
- Motivations: Chuck wants to achieve financial stability.
- Frustrations: Due to his limited access to transportation, Chuck has trouble transporting large electronics (TV, stereo) and furniture back to his apartment. He also has difficulty finding information about where to find second-hand items in Saskatoon.
- Activities: Chuck works temporary jobs and job hunts. He also refurbishes and resells second-hand furniture.
- Technological use/proficiency: Chuck gained experience using technology while he was in high school, and he is comfortable using different technologies. He currently owns an old laptop and a cheap smartphone. His apartment building’s WiFi is unusably slow, and he has a cheap cell phone plan with 2GB of cellular data per month.
### Description
Chuck is a young man who has been struggling to financially survive since he lost his job as a line cook at the beginning of the Covid-19. While Chuck is working at a temporary job, he has very little free time. However, when he is unemployed, most of his time is spend job hunting or refurbishing second-hand furniture that he can sell for extra money. Chuck is more concerned with his own survival than saving the environment. Chuck is often frustrated by how difficult it is to find and access inexpensive second-hand items through social media and City of Saskatoon programs. He wants all of the resources for second-hand items to be in one place, so he doesn’t have to waste his data searching for all the different programs or scrolling through second-hand item groups on social media. He also wants to be able to find items that are located close to his apartment because his transportation options are limited.
